The Niagara Peninsula is home to the quaint town of Niagara on the Lake, a community of internationally acclaimed wineries and vineyards.
In particular, Niagara is famous for its ice wine and known for being one of the world’s largest producers of this unique type of fine wine.
Note: Ice wine is a type of dessert wine made from grapes that have been frozen naturally while still on the vine.
Some wineries offer live music or shows, as well as gourmet food, wine tastings and guided tours of the vineyards.
You may even wish to mark out your own wine country route – take a look at Wine Country Ontario Itineraries (www.winecountryontario.ca) for some suggested trails to blaze during your time in Niagara.
